Wellbeing

At Flora Gardens, the wellbeing of our pupils is paramount. We recognise the importance of emotional health and so ensure we integrate the emotional components of teaching and learning. An example of this includes building in opportunities for rich discussion about emotional health across the curriculum as opposed to limiting these discussions to PSHE lessons (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) .

Here at our school, our Mental Health Champion, PSHE lead and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) work closely together to monitor both staff and pupil wellbeing across the school to ensure an environment that encourages children to flourish. Their range of knowledge and skills, inclusive of specialist training and postgraduate qualifications, help them to support all staff in delivering an effective curriculum that promotes wellbeing.

In addition to this, our house system provides children with an additional layer of pastoral care while encouraging them to choose their attitude, trust and respect themselves and one another, be adventurous, be fulfilled and look after their physical and mental health. These school values underpin our school ethos: nothing is impossible if you believe you can achieve it.
