Drama
Intent
At Flora Gardens, we believe in the transformative power of drama education, where every child's imagination is ignited and creativity flourishes. Our intent goes beyond performance: drama cultivates empathy, confidence, resilience, and collaboration.
Through dramatic play, role-play and performance, children explore diverse perspectives, develop effective communication, and build emotional intelligence. Drama provides a safe space for pupils to express themselves authentically, take risks, and explore aspects of their identities.
By combining creative exploration with structured teaching rooted in Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction, we ensure that pupils build drama skills in small, progressive steps, revisiting prior knowledge regularly and applying it to new contexts. In this way, pupils develop not only a lifelong appreciation for the arts, but also transferable life skills that empower them to thrive in an ever-changing world.
