Your Questions Answered

Should Flora make a temporary move?

Yes, built over 70 years ago, the current school buildings no longer provide a safe, comfortable and well-equipped learning environment for your child. Our new location in the newly-developed school building will enable us to deliver a far better experience.

Will the school team remain the same?

Yes, your devoted and outstanding team of teachers and support will move to our new home.

Will parents and carers be welcome at our new location?

Yes, our wonderful and supportive community of parents and carers will be warmly welcomed at our new home and our PTA will continue to remain an active part of this school community.

Will specialist teaching in wider curriculum subjects still be provided after the move?

Yes, our bespoke Specialist Teaching in a range of curriculum subjects will continue to be delivered at our new school site. This unique approach in a state primary school will be delivered in Drama, Forest School, Science, Computing, Geography, History, Spanish, PE and Music.

Will the Outstanding pastoral care still be in place at our new site?
Yes, our specialist trained staff will continue to deliver Outstanding pastoral care as stated in our June 2022 Ofsted report. The ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support) provision will continue, our Mental Health Lead will be with us, our SENDCo will remain the same and our whole-school ethos of values will remain at the core
of Flora Gardens.

Will there still be our 6 school values at our new site?

Yes, our 6 school values of Choose your Attitude, Trust, Respect, Fulfilment, Adventure and Personal Wellbeing will continue to underpin everything we do. The pupil
roles of House Captains, Vice Captains, Sports Captains, Arts Captains, Librarians and School Council will remain, ensuring pupils across the year groups have an element of responsibility.

Will there still be a Bank and Shop at the new location?

Yes, our School Bank and Shop will open at our new site for all children. They will visit the Bank to ‘cash in’ their house points and then decide whether to ‘spend’
in the Shop or ‘save’ for larger items. This ensures our children have a broader set of skills, such as financial management, for the real-world when they leave us.

Will it be easy to reach our new location?

Yes, a Walking Bus will depart Dalling Road every morning, stop to pick-up children en route, and deliver them to Lena Gardens ready for the school day. This same service will operate after school, dropping-off children at set stops along its route from Lena Gardens to Dalling Road where the parents can collect at the end of the school day. Research has shown that children who walk to school arrive more settled, ready for learning and they benefit from starting the day with some exercise and fresh air.
