School Journey

Each November ,Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to go on a residential trip to Nethercott Farm for City Children in Devon (a charity set up by the children’s author Michael Morpurgo).

The working farm is in the heart of the Devonshire countryside and this is where the pupils spend a week being farmers. All Year 5 and Year 6 pupils are expected to go, as this week away supports many areas of the curriculum, as well as helping to develop a a sense of independence and team building skills before they make the transfer to secondary schools.

The ‘My Best School Trip Award’ gets teachers and pupils writing about the best school trip they have ever had. It’s an accolade that comes with a prize £1,500 for a school to spend on an educational trip. Last year’s farmers wrote accounts about their trip to Nethercott Farm which were sent off to ‘School Travel Organiser’…and we came in second place!
